The TGA announced in July 2017 the adoption of certain recommendations made by the Expert Panel Review of Medicines and Medical Devices Regulation to improve the therapeutic goods advertising framework.

Of note to many was the decision to remove pre-approvals for medicines, the aim being to improve consistency between medicines and medical devices and improve consistency across advertising media. It is also hoped this will lead to a reduced regulatory burden.

A single complaints handling body was another of the TGA's reforms adopted. Further details on both of these decisions can be found by clicking here. They have announced that they are also working to deliver further reforms in 2018.
