Advertising Image leads to stern letter from FDA
IDELVION made and marketed by CSL is used to control and prevent bleeding episodes in children and adults with haemophilia B.
Advertising images used on their websites, print and Social media pages has led to concerns. The image (below) shows an athletic man jumping up, in preparation to kick or head a soccer ball. Such activities are rated as moderate to high-risk in patients suffering from haemophilia. The image of the player has been described as misleadingly overpromising the effect that the drug (Idelvion - a prescription-only product) will have on a haemophilic patient's activities and overall quality of life.
Advertising is an art of subtlety and becomes a fine art when we wish to promote products that have an impact on a persons life and general wellbeing.
